As part of CIBM’s Teaching Initiative 2022, the newly created CIBM Translational MR Neuroimaging & Spectroscopy PhD course PHYS-760 / 3 crédits took place from April 24th- May 5th, 2023 at EPFL.

The comprehensive course on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Spectroscopy (MRS) was  designed for PhD students and Post-docs across the Lemanic region wanting to gain first hand knowledge and practical training conducted by experts in the field and members of the CIBM Community.

The topics included experimental design, data gathering, and processing in MRS, as well as, structural and functional MRI in both humans and rodents. Upon completion of the course, students are able to understand the physical principles of MRI and MRS, design a translational study, establish MRI and MRS acquisition protocols, and analyze results for their research interests. Additionally, they are be able to perform MRI, MRS, and DWI, as well as perform simple quantification and modelling on provided data. The program provided an opportunity for students to work on hands-on exercises and questions in groups, fostering interdisciplinary interaction and collaboration.

This was a great opportunity to learn and enhance their skills in the field of MRI and MRS.
