Tan Toi Phan

Postdoctoral researcher
CIBM MRI EPFL Animal Imaging and Technology Section
Tan Toi Phan obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Engineering Physics – Biomedical Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – Vietnam National University in 2015. He then completed an M.Sc. in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering in 2018, followed by a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2023, both from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea. His Ph.D. research, supervised by Dr. Jang-Yeon Park, focused on developing a functional MRI technique for detecting neuronal activity in the mouse brain. After more than a year of post-doctoral training at Sungkyunkwan University, Tan Toi joined CIBM as a post-doctoral researcher in December 2024. At CIBM, he is working with Cristina Cudalbu on developing diffusion magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (dMRSI) to quantify and validate brain microstructure through analyzing the mobility of brain metabolites.
