On January 27, 2026, the RESAL continuing education event on animal experimentation entitled “Phenotyping and Preclinical Imaging: Integrating the 3Rs through Our Faculty Platforms” took place in the   CMU, University of Geneva.

The event was co-organized by Olivia Bejuy and Kelly Ceyzeriat from the CIBM Pre-Clinical Imaging HUG-UNIGE Molecular Imaging section and  in collaboration with the Small Animal Preclinical Imaging Platform (PIPPA), Dr. Didier Colin, the Surgery Unit (ChiRO, Dr. Christelle Veyrat-Durebex), the Small Animal Phenotyping Platform (PPPA), Dr. Franck Bontems, and the Réseau des Animaleries Lémaniques (ResAL), Dr. Christelle Cadilhac.

Bringing together more than 170 participants, the event highlighted how preclinical imaging, animal phenotyping, and experimental surgery contribute on a daily basis to advancing the 3Rs principles: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement in animal research.

Within this framework, Olivia Bejuy presented a talk entitled “Preclinical Imaging as a Driver of Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement”, and Dr. Kelly Ceyzeriat gave a talk on “Contribution of PET/SPECT Imaging to the Implementation of the 3Rs in Neuroscience.”

We warmly thank all speakers and organizers for their excellent contributions and engagement: Dr. Didier Colin, Dr. Christelle Veyrat-Durebex, Dr. Franck Bontems, Prof. Michele Diana, Dr. Aramis Raiola, Dr. Monika Gjorgjieva, Dr. Etienne Delangre, Dr. Véronique Serre-Beinier and Dr. Christelle Cadilhac.
