CIBM is proud to announce the recent academic promotions of three of its Section Heads, recognising their outstanding contributions to biomedical imaging research, scientific leadership, and academic excellence across our partner institutions.

Meritxell BachDr. Meritxell Bach Cuadra promoted to Associate Professor at UNIL

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Meritxell Bach Cuadra, Head of the CIBM Signal Processing CHUV-UNIL Trustworthy Medical Image Analysis Section, has been promoted to Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, University of Lausanne (UNIL).

Dr. Bach Cuadra’s research is internationally recognised in the field of medical image analysis, particularly in the development of advanced machine learning methods for clinical applications. Her promotion reflects her pioneering work in trustworthy, explainable AI and her commitment to clinically relevant and ethically grounded technological innovation.

Dr. Frédéric Grouiller promoted to Assistant Professor at UNIGE

We are pleased to congratulate Dr. Frédéric Grouiller on his promotion to Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva (UNIGE). Dr. Grouiller leads the CIBM MRI HUG-UNIGE Clinical MR Imaging Section, where his research focuses on advanced MR imaging methodologies applied to clinical neuroscience and neurology.

His work bridges technical innovation and clinical translation, particularly in the use of high-resolution functional and structural MRI for improving diagnostics and treatment strategies. This promotion is a well-deserved recognition of his contributions to neuroimaging and clinical research at the interface of science and patient care.

Valentina GaribottoProf. Valentina Garibotto promoted to Full Professor at UNIGE

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Valentina Garibotto on her promotion to Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, UNIGE. As Head of the CIBM Pre-Clinical Imaging HUG-UNIGE Molecular Imaging Section, Prof. Garibotto leads research in positron emission tomography (PET) and molecular imaging, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases and translational imaging biomarkers.

Her promotion to Full Professor recognises her scientific leadership, international visibility, and dedication to mentoring the next generation of researchers in nuclear medicine and neuroimaging.

 

These promotions reflect CIBM’s vibrant and growing academic environment and the strengths of its founding partner institutions CHUV, UNIL,  EPFL, UNIGE and HUG.
