On July 13th, 2023 Prof. Dimitri van de Ville of the CIBM MRI EPFL AIT section hosted a seminar on MR Coil development methods.

The visitor researcher Dr. Vitaliy Zhurbenko participated in a EUROTECH visiting researcher program. This program promotes cooperation between researchers at its partner universities, among which are École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne – EPFL and Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

MRI coil development for 13C imaging at DTU

The low natural abundance of the 13C isotope makes in vivo imaging extremely challenging. This limitation has been overcome with the development of the dynamic nuclear polarization technique. The technique, however, requires dedicated coil development for careful acquisition of the signal. In this talk, the highlights of 13 MRI coil development at DTU will be presented, including cryogenic receive coils, extremely low noise preamplifiers, transmit cols with a homogeneous B1 field, and others.
