CIBM held a summer social event on September 3rd, with those in attendance enjoying a walk along the magical River Flon to a guided tour of the historic Oron Castle, followed by a networking aperitif.

The CIBM summer 2021 social event was the first occasion for many of the colleagues from Geneva and Lausanne to mingle in person, given the limitations imposed by COVID-19 containment measures since March 2020.

The group of 36 people included CIBM core members, affiliated PhD students, 2020 alumni and the communications team from Martel.

Mr. André Locher, President of the Oron Castle’s Association welcomed all by giving an introduction to the history of the Castle, followed by a guided tour.

Oron Castle dates from the twelfth century and is a Swiss heritage site of national significance, housing an impressive library of antique books, including Diderot’s Encyclopedia.

Attendees were surprised to find the newly-printed version of the CIBM 2020 Annual Report hot off the press. The fruits of their labour are detailed in the report which they received in hard copy and perused together over the course of the apero.

Special thanks to Katherine Anderson and Miguel Alarcon from Martel Innovate for their contributions on editorial and design of the Annual report.

Relive the day with us and enjoy the memories.
