Eleonora Fornari
MRI CHUV-UNIL Translational MR Imaging Section
Research Scientist at the CIBM-CHUV MR section, I joined the CIBM in 2007 within the Radiology Department of the Lausanne University Hospital. Electrical Engineer by background, I graduated at the Politecnico di Torino with a specialization in biomedical engineering and then I obtained a PhD in Life Science at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (UNIL) in Lausanne. Since then, I devoted all my career to human brain imaging (MRI and multimodal). My research interests have spanned from neurodevelopment to neurodegenerative diseases, addictions, and several topics in cognitive neuroscience. The unique environment provided by the CIBM, making the bridge between state-of-the-art techniques in biomedical imaging and clinical applications, allows me to work side by side with Neuroradiologists. In addition to the joint projects with other CIBM sections, I established long term and fruitful collaborations with Neuropsychology, Psychiatry, Toxicology, Neurology departments as well as with the EPFL. As manager of the MRI platform, I offer my support to internal and external collaborators to conceive, setup and run their MRI experiments in order to successfully carry out brain MRI projects. Since 2015 I also extended my expertise to ethical aspects of science and technology at the service of medicine and to pedagogy applied to scientific teaching.
