Professor Patrik Vuilleumier, Head of the CIBM MRI UNIGE Cognitive and Affective Neuroimaging Section, took part in the 2026 annual meeting of the Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS 2026) in Vancouver from 7 to 10 March. He was invited to chair Symposium 2, “Mapping Emotions in the Brain Beyond Localisation: How Neuroimaging and Machine Learning Can Reshape Contemporary Theoretical Frameworks.” Patrik also gave a talk titled “Brain Network Dynamics and Functional Components of Emotion,” summarising recent advances in understanding the neural architecture of emotional processing and presenting work carried out by his team at the CIBM MRI UNIGE Cognitive and Affective Neuroimaging Section. His participation reflects his longstanding international recognition in the fields of emotion, attention, and consciousness in the human brain.

Through his contribution to CNS 2026, Professor Vuilleumier helped showcase the excellence of cognitive and affective neuroscience research conducted at the CIBM in Geneva and strengthened ties with leading international laboratories working at the interface between basic neuroscience and clinical applications.
