The CIBM Center for Biomedical Imaging recently concluded its first-ever Bootcamp on fMRIPrep. Held from September 9-11 at the CMU of the University of Geneva, the three-day intensive workshop aimed to advance fMRI researchers’ skills  by equipping participants with the expertise to process fMRI data using the widely adopted fMRIPrep pipeline efficiently.

Co-led by Dr. Oscar Esteban and Dr. Chris Markiewicz, two of the original developers of fMRIPrep, the bootcamp offered a unique hands-on learning experience. Attendees were guided through the entire data processing workflow—from data organization using BIDS to analyzing complex 7T fMRI datasets. The experts provided valuable insights and practical tips to optimize data analysis, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of the fMRIPrep pipeline.

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees highlighted the rare opportunity to learn directly from the software’s creators, praising the bootcamp for its hands-on approach and depth of information.

The success of the bootcamp marks a significant step in CIBM’s commitment to providing top-tier training and fostering expertise in advanced imaging techniques. Organizers plan to offer similar events in the future to meet the growing demand for specialized training in the field.
