Leonardo Cristella joined CIBM as IT systems administrator and software developer. After a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Bari, he spent four years at CERN developing distributed computing and machine-learning software for the CMS experiment. At EPFL’s Blue Brain Project, he developed the Blue Brain Atlas Pipeline, which automates the generation and processing of brain-atlas datasets and registers the results in the project’s knowledge graph. At INFN Bari, he then ran GPU workflows for CMS and supported the users of the ReCaS-Bari computing centre, before administering GPU servers and building Neuropixels analysis pipelines for an EPFL neuroscience lab. Outside work, Leonardo plays beach volley, skis and takes part in science outreach activities.
