Jabrane Karkouri
CIBM PCI EPFL Metabolic Imaging Section
Jabrane Karkouri holds an MSc in Medical Physics from the University of Paris-Sud and completed his PhD at CREATIS Lyon in 2019, where his research focused on fast spiral-MRSI sequences to probe energy metabolism using 31P-spectroscopy.
He then joined the University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral researcher, working with Dr. Christopher Rodgers on RF coil optimisation, sequence development and advanced analysis for spectroscopic imaging at 7T. Clinical applications included 31P-MRSI cardiac studies investigating the effects of SGLT2-inhibitors in heart failure patients and Deuterium Metabolic Imaging in glioblastoma patients.
Since April 2026, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the CIBM Pre-Clinical Imaging EPFL Metabolic Imaging Section, focusing on juvenile hepatic encephalopathy in children with chronic liver diseases and congenital porto-systemic shunts, in collaboration with Cristina Cudalbu, Valérie McLin and Bernard Lanz. His work combines diffusion MRI and fast 1H-MRSI at 7T and 3T, in collaboration with Ileana Jelescu, Antoine Klauser and Sébastien Courvoisier.
