Athanasios Grigoriou holds a Diploma in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Patras (Patras, Greece). After graduation he worked as a mechanical engineer in the UK and Spain and later enrolled in a PhD in Biomedicine program at the University of Barcelona (UB, Barcelona) carried out at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO, Barcelona). He has worked on histology-informed diffusion MRI models for body MRI applications with a focus on liver cancer and metastasis. He joined the CIBM SP CHUV-EPFL group as a postdoctoral researcher in April 2026 working on modeling the developing cortex.
