André Döring
CIBM MRI EPFL Animal Imaging and Technology Section
André Döring joined the CIBM MRI EPFL section in September 2023 as a Postdoctoral researcher.
André holds a diploma in Physics (University of Dresden, 2014) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Diffusion MR Spectroscopy (dMRS) (University of Bern, 2019). As a research fellow, awarded by two SNSF Fellowships, he worked at the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC), UK, on the development of innovative multiparametric diffusion-encoding strategies for a unique Connectom MR scanner.
These techniques have the potential to reveal cell-type-specific pathomorphological alterations, which are likely early biomarkers for diseases involving an undetected, chronic, prodromal, neuroinflammatory stage such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Schizophrenia, Psychosis, or Depression. His research interests encompass the development of new MR sequences, data processing, analysis, and modeling, with a focus on clinical applications, relevance, and implications. His work within the group led by PI Lijing Xin aims to establish novel MR techniques linking functional alterations, cellular microstructure, and metabolic dysfunction in psychiatric disorders.
