Tomas Ros

Research Staff Scientist
EEG HUG-UNIGE Clinical and Translational Neuroimaging Section

Tomas Ros holds a BSc in Physics from Imperial College of Science and Technology (London, UK), an MSc in Neuroscience from Louis Pasteur University (Strasbourg, France), and a PhD in Psychology from Goldsmiths College (University of London, 2010).

His interest in the link between human behavior and brain function led him to pursue his PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London, focusing on the emerging field of EEG neurofeedback. During his PhD thesis (2006 – 2010), he uncovered detectable changes in the brain directly after a neurofeedback session.

In 2011, his postdoctoral work at Western University (London, Ontario, Canada) explored the potential of neurofeedback in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For this, he received the Brain Star Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

After moving to the University of Geneva in 2012, he worked on projects exploring EEG neurofeedback for post-stroke rehabilitation (supported by the Leenards Foundation), and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as part of Synapsy (a National Centre of Competence in Research program).

In 2019, he joined the CIBM EEG HUG-UNIGE Clinical and Translational Neuroimaging Section as Research Staff Scientist, presently headed by Prof. Serge Vulliémoz.

Tomas Ros is currently Senior Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, University of Geneva, Switzerland. He is also Principal Investigator of a 4-year project grant awarded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, which is focused on the methodological development of EEG neurofeedback for psychiatric and neurological conditions.
