CIBM was very active during the ETH Domain Human Health Day 2026, held on 20 August at the Rolex Learning Centre, EPFL in Lausanne.
Organised around the theme “Bringing the domain together to imagine human health,” the event brought together researchers, platform leaders and decision-makers from across the ETH Domain to discuss how interdisciplinary collaboration can advance human health research and accelerate its translation into clinical practice.
CIBM participated in the event with a poster presenting the Center’s research and expertise in biomedical imaging. The poster offered an opportunity to highlight the diversity of the research and the role of advanced imaging technologies in understanding human health and supporting the development of innovative approaches in research and medicine.
Jean-Philippe Thiran, Head of the CIBM SP CHUV-EPFL Computational Medical Imaging Section, also contributed to the programme with a talk in the Engineering in Medicine session. His participation underlined the importance of engineering, imaging and data-driven methods in addressing today’s medical challenges.
The session provided a valuable platform for discussing how technological innovation can be connected with clinical needs and translated into concrete advances for patients. It also reflected the event’s broader ambition: to strengthen collaboration across disciplines and institutions within the Swiss health research ecosystem.
CIBM is proud to have contributed to this important exchange, which highlighted the value of bringing together the ETH Zurich and EPFL Lausanne communities to foster collaboration, share expertise and advance biomedical imaging research for human health.
