Ilgin Sogut

Research Engineer
EEG CHUV-UNIL Electrical  Neuroimaging Section

Ilgin holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electronics and ICT Engineering from KU Leuven, where he specialized in software systems, artificial intelligence, and signal processing.

Ilgin worked part time as a Data and AI Engineer during his studies. His master’s thesis proposed a novel experimental paradigm for classifying voluntary visual imagery using consumer-grade EEG, proposing new signal processing approaches and novel features to investigate visual imagery. The thesis received the highest score in his faculty, and he graduated top of his class with a Magna Cum Laude.

Ilgin joined Dr. Marzia De Lucia’s lab, under CIBM EEG CHUV-UNIL section, as a Research Engineer. He maintains Brain-Body and Consciousness Lab’s infrastructure and supports research involving EEG and multimodal physiological signals. He develops experimental protocols, signal processing methods and analysis on the EEG/EOG, heartrate and respiration data to establish new metrics and biomarkers to investigate different states of conciousness.
