Eloïse Mougel
CIBM PCI EPFL Metabolic Imaging Section
Eloïse Mougel holds an MSc in Physics from the University of Lyon, France, and completed her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from INSA Lyon, France in 2019. Her doctoral research, supervised by Dr. D. Grenier, focused on developing and investigating dipolar contrast mechanisms in MRI to probe tissues with high macromolecular content. In 2020, she joined MIRCen (CEA, France) as a postdoctoral researcher, where she worked with Dr. J. Valette on the investigation of brain microstructure and metabolism using diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance spectroscopy (DW-MRS).
Her work specifically explored lactate compartmentation in the brain using advanced DW-MRS techniques. Since July 2025, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the CIBM Pre-Clinical Imaging EPFL Metabolic Imaging Section with research focus on microstructural imaging using diffusion magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (DW-MRSI). She is particularly involved in imaging living brain organoids to better understand brain developmental pathologies.
