On June 17th, 2025, the CIBM Breakfast and Science Seminar Series Summer Edition brought together PhD and Master’s students for a day of scientific presentations and competitions. Organised by CIBM Core members Kelly Ceyzériat, Damien Marie and Olivia Bejuy from the University of Geneva, the event showcased research from CIBM affiliated students through presentations and poster sessions, and was followed by the traditional CIBM Fun & Games Challenge.
“I was very impressed with the high level of the presentations delivered by the PhD and Masters students” Marzia De Lucia, Head, CIBM EEG CHUV UNIL Section.
The morning featured short talks of 3-5 minutes and poster pitches covering diverse research topics showcasing the diversity and the excellence of CIBM research. A poster session during the coffee break allowed for detailed discussions between participants. This second edition highlighted the strong motivation of Master’s and PhD students to engage in their research and actively take part in a vibrant scientific community.
“It was a great opportunity to present my PhD work and discover the projects of other students. The Power Pitch format was engaging and made the morning more dynamic than traditional long presentations. It was a pleasure to connect with members of the CIBM community. And a big thank you for the water bottle!” Aurélien Badina, UNIGE PhD student, CIBM PCI HUG-UNIGE Section

Fo me, the best way to truly integrate the CIBM community !” Romain Ceresetti, UNIGE MSc student, CIBM MRI UNIGE Section
The event then moved to Parc La Grange for a rural summer picnic lunch under the trees, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Participants were picked up and distributed randomly in teams to foster new encounters during the Fun & Games Challenge. This challenge featured CIBM-themed quizzes and interactive activities, including a research speed dating game with a spy twist and some other team building activities based on agility and collaboration.
“This second CIBM Breakfast & Science Seminar Summer Edition, which brought us this time under the intense Geneva sun, was a great opportunity to discuss and exchange about CIBM research directly with the PhD and master students, before sharing some fun time together with a picnic. Congratulations to the Geneva organization team.”, Bernard Lanz, Research Staff Scientist, CIBM Pre-Clinical Imaging Section
This informal gathering fostered meaningful exchanges, and inspiring discussions around ongoing research. The event provided students with a platform to present their work, connect with peers across CIBM institutions, and participate in team-based activities.
