The second Breakfast & Science Seminar from the CIBM was held at Campus Biotech in Geneva on February 25th 2020.
Olivia Bejuy, Research Staff Scientist at the CIBM PET HUG-UNIGE Molecular Imaging Section, was the first presenter to jumpstart the seminar with her research on “Preclinical models and molecular imaging to study malignant pleural mesothelioma”. Olivia was followed by Christian Abbet, PhD Student Signal Processing Lab (LTS5), EPFL, Switzerland, who presented his work on “Unsupervised representation learning for survival analysis in Colorectal Cancer”.
On this occasion, over 20 people from the five partners institutions of the CIBM joined the second round of the CIBM Breakfast & Science Seminars. The participants were able to obtain specific details on two different types of cancers investigated by two different sections: Signal Processing (SP) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Additionally, during the Q&A section, speakers were able to go more in depth on significant aspects of their research.
The interactive audience sharing session allowed attendees to speak up about certain events relative to their fields and in which CIBM members will be speakers – such as the IEEE ISBI 2020 (International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging) taking place in Iowa City next April, the ISMRM 28th Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Sydney which is also in April and where a large part of CIBM staff from the MRI Module will be attending and presenting their work, and the 45th ICASSP (International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing) held in Barcelona in May.
Finally, as the Breakfast & Science Seminar came to a close, CIBM members and collaborators alike were able to engage with each other during the networking breakfast session.
CIBM Breakfast & Science Seminar 3 will be held at the University of Geneva on Tuesday March 31st.
