DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Lijing Xin ( https://cibm.ch/community/lijing-xin/ ), Research Staff Scientist CIBM MRI EPFL Section, we are pleased  to invite you to attend the CIBM 7T MRI Seminar on September 14th at 16:00 CEST by Xiaoping Wu from University of Minnesota, USA who will be sharing on “Advancing ultrahigh-field human neuroimaging via technical innovation”.\nDate and time: Monday, September 14th, 2026 – 16:00 CEST\nLocation:  Virtual talk on Zoom\nAbstract\nAdvancing ultrahigh field (UHF) human neuroimaging requires targeted technical innovations to overcome fundamental challenges, including radiofrequency (RF) inhomogeneity, tissue power deposition (SAR), and motion. In this talk, I will first highlight our breakthroughs at 7 Tesla (7 T), demonstrating how intelligent parallel transmission (pTx) pulse design, novel denoising frameworks, and advanced image reconstruction have enhanced Human Connectome Project (HCP)-style diffusion and functional MRI. I will then discuss our ongoing research pushing the frontiers of UHF human neuroimaging on a custom 10.5 T system—equipped with 16-channel pTx and 128-channel receive capabilities—driving toward the BRAIN 2.0 resolution target of 0.01-µL voxel volume (e.g., ~0.22-mm isotropic resolution). Finally, I will summarize key takeaways and future technical directions for UHF human neuroimaging.\n\n Xiaoping Wu\nUniversity of Minnesota, USA\nAbout the speaker \nXiaoping Wu, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology and the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR), with a graduate faculty appointment in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, USA. A University of Minnesota Ph.D. alumnus (2010), Dr. Wu brings more than two decades of expertise in ultrahigh-field MRI technology—specializing in parallel transmission, data acquisition, and image reconstruction.
