SUMMARY:Breakfast & Science Seminar 57
DESCRIPTION: \nHosted by Meritxell Bach Cuadra ( https://cibm.ch/community/meritxell-bach-cuadra/ ), Head of CIBM Signal Processing CHUV UNIL Trustworthy Medical Image Analysis Section, we are pleased to invite you to attend the 57th CIBM Breakfast & Science Seminar on April 28th at 09:30 CET by Delphine Ribes from EPFL and ECAL LAB who will be sharing on “Beyond Innovation: Design Research Methods for Adoption and Acceptance”.\nDate and time: Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 – 9:30 to 11:00 CEST\nLocation:  CIBM Seminar room at EPFL or online\nProgram\n09:30 – 10:30 Beyond Innovation: Design Research Methods for Adoption and Acceptance\n10:30 – 11:00 CIBM news and networking\nAbstract\nInnovation alone does not ensure impact. Technologies must be adopted and accepted in real-world contexts. This talk explores how design research methods support adoption and acceptance, with a focus on AI.Through two projects, the presentation illustrates how participatory and iterative approaches reveal key factors shaping trust, understanding, and engagement. The first examines AI integration in multiple sclerosis (MS), highlighting challenges around explainability, regulatory and clinical use. The second investigates strategies for designing a dedicated chatbot to foster healthier and more sustainable dietary behaviors.Together, these cases demonstrate how methods such as co-design, prototyping, and qualitative analysis help move beyond innovation toward technologies that are meaningful, usable, and ultimately adopted.\n\n \nDelphine Ribes\nEPFL and ECAL LAB\nAbout the Speaker\nDelphine Ribes’ work spans research and real-world applications. With a background in electrical engineering and expertise in medical image processing, she has experience in research labs and healthcare settings. As the head of the algorithmic and software engineering group at EPFL+ECAL Lab, she focuses on interdisciplinary approaches that merge engineering, design, and clinical insights to foster technology adoption in healthcare.\nSeminar Chair\n\nMeritxell Bach Cuadra\nHead of CIBM Signal Processing CHUV UNIL Trustworthy Medical Image Analysis Section\nClick here to learn about Meritxell ( https://cibm.ch/community/meritxell-bach-cuadra/ )\nJOIN US ON SITE!\nYou are welcome to join us on site at the CIBM Seminar room at EPFLThe event is for free and registration is not required.\nOR REMOTELY\nTo join us remotely please,  register at the following Zoom link:https://epfl.zoom.us/meeting/register/d5a9vjlLTUikwYFrjs6R6Q\nZoom Code: 663 2688 5046\nWe look forward to seeing you there!\n \n
