SUMMARY:Breakfast & Science Seminar 41
DESCRIPTION: \nDate and time: Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 – 9:30 to 10:30 CET\nLocation:  Virtual on Zoom and on-site CIBM Seminar Room, EPFL campus, 1015 Lausanne.\nProgram\n09:30 – 10:00 Cartool EEG Software: Embracing Open Source – A 28-Year Code Legacy Unveiled\nAbstract\nThe Cartool EEG Software, in development since 1996, offers users cutting-edge, high-density EEG analysis toolboxes. Since its inception, a key focus has been placed on an intuitive user interface and user-friendly experience. We strongly believe that the ability to visualize and interact with diverse data types is essential for effective analysis. In a significant development, Cartool is now being introduced as Free Open Source Software (FOSS), aligning with our dedication to advancing the principles of the Open Science movement. The upcoming presentation will provide insights into the capabilities of Cartool, its underlying methodologies, and the diverse packages that form its extensive toolkit.\n10:30-11:00  CIBM news and networking  \n\n \nDenis Brunet, \nCIBM EEG HUG-UNIGE Section, FBMLab UNIGE\nAbout the Speaker\nDenis Brunet got a License in Computer Sciences in 1987 from the University of Geneva, then a Master in Computer Science in 1988 from Strasbourg University. He joined the Functional Brain Mapping Lab in 1996 to implement visual and auditory stimulations for EEG Evoked Responses.Shortly after, he started the  project “Cartool”, aimed at rewriting existing analysis code, and developing new toolboxes. It now contain EEG signal processing, micro-states analysis, inverse solutions full pipe-line computation, MRI processing toolboxes. It also contains a lot of interactive visualization, a keypoint for proper scientific analysis. Cartool is distributed world-wide for free, and allows other labs to apply the latest research tools on their own data.\nSeminar Chairs\n\nTomas Ros,\nResearch Staff Scientist, CIBM EEG HUG-UNIGE Clinical and Translational Neuroimaging Section\nClick here to learn about Tomas ( https://cibm.ch/community/tomas-ros/ )\nJOIN US!\nIf attending on-site, no registration is required.\nTo join us on Zoom, please register at the following link:https://epfl.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5YrdOqsqzspE9GVL3C1vLDuWfU86GLAR7EH\nWe look forward to seeing you there.\n \n
